Off. Pane keeps your notes in its own folder, , and never touches a vault. Turn it on to copy your notes into an Obsidian vault or keep them there.
Your notes are still inside the vault, so Obsidian can see them. Move them into Pane’s own folder? The vault copies are kept in Pane’s backups folder.
Moves every note file into the vault folder above and works from there. Obsidian then sees changes the moment you type, and edits you make in Obsidian show up here. Export is no longer needed. The originals are kept in Pane’s backups folder.
Name the tape colors to use them as labels, like Work, Home or a job number. The row above the wall shows one label at a time, and new notes started there get that label.
Every note is one Markdown file. Notes live in . Shelved notes sit in its Shelf subfolder. A snapshot of the folder is kept once a day in backups, and any save that shrinks a note by more than half keeps the old copy in backups\overwrites. Earlier versions of each note are kept in backups\history, and pasted images in the notes folder’s attachments subfolder. Pane never deletes a note.

One password locks every locked note. A locked note’s text, its earlier versions and its daily backups are encrypted on this computer. Its title stays readable. There is no way to recover a forgotten password.
Keeps your notes in step with Pane on your phone and your other computers. Everything is encrypted on this computer with your sync passphrase before it leaves, so the sync service can’t read it. Forget the passphrase and the synced copy can’t be opened, but the notes on this computer are untouched.
Every .txt and .md in the folder becomes a note. The files are copied, never moved or changed. Anything already on the wall is skipped.
Pane is one wall for all your notes. Nothing is ever deleted: notes you are done with go to the shelf, and earlier versions of every note are kept.
Built on this computer from the note's own words, nothing sent anywhere. Edit it here before you copy if you like.
